New version coming soon

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still here, and still working on the alarm clock. With some 75,000 active users, I still get a ton of feedback and feature requests. (Actually I have no idea how many active users the app has, since the only information I have is the number of downloads. But since I have around 200,000 downloads, I figured it might be a decent guess.)

Anyways, I'm implementing a couple new feature requests right now. Some of them are pretty basic, and some of them are really clever. I'm not going to announce the new features until the new version is released, but I thought I'd just let everyone know that I'm still here, and the application is still in active development. In fact, I currently have a huge ToDo list for the application, and I'm looking forward to implementing some of the bigger items.

You know, I love the IUseThis site. I even got a little iUseThis counter to go on the homepage of my alarm clock site. But I haven't linked to the site yet because of all the problems I've been having with it lately. For the past month or so, I've been unable to login. I type in my username and password, and it appears that I'm logged in. It even redirects me back to the page where I was trying to do something. But the login system never works for me. So I've been unable to really use the site for quite some time now. This is the only thing preventing me from linking to them. Anybody else having this problem?

Just wanted to say that I love the app; I discovered it a while back after having actually paid for a license for a different alarm clock program but yours was much less obtrusive and simple to use.

Sorry if I am misstaken, but it seems one cannot change volume using the remote control when the "alarm" is waking you up, might be nice. because it gets much loader when it starts with alarmclock then the musicvolume is when I quit my computer.. the night before.

Hi anonymous,

The volume the alarm goes off at is set in the app's preferences. You can change this volume if you'd like. You can also use and configure easy wake.

I have purposely not implemented volume changing with the remote control for somewhat obvious reasons. If you could control the volume, then you could just turn down the volume of your alarm, and you'd never wake up. (And the alarm would eventually terminate.) If you're forced to hit snooze, then the alarm will go off again in a few minutes, and eventually you'll have to get up.

you should release more often. monthly should be a good interval between releases.

I'd love it if you could set it to turn off the alarm with the remote. I always run the risk of waking up my flatmates with the alarm, and it'd be great to be able to have the option

I would love to see you add a small text window that I can use to type in a short reminder of what I have to do when the timer (or alarm) goes off.

Then I can read it when it sounds.

Awesome app, by the way. It's a perfect example of the KISS principle :)

Turning off an alarm with the remote sounds a little dangerous. It would be pretty easy to do in your sleep, plus the buttons on the remote are fairly small. It might be a little too easy to accidentally turn of your alarm when you're out of it in the morning. That's why on actual alarm clocks, the snooze button is gigantic, and the off button is small.

Remember that ultimately the purpose of the alarm clock is to get you out of bed. If you're worried about your flat mates, you can always snooze the alarm with your remote, then get out of bed and turn off the alarm manually.

Hi Anonymous,

You said you'd like to have a small window that you can type short reminders in. And then read them in the morning when the alarm goes off.

How about the Stickies program that comes with every Mac?
